Hamasan acronym for *Harakat al-Muqawama al-Islamiya* (Islamic Resistance Movement)has been characterized in various ways: as a terrorist organization, a national liberation group, a religious-social movement, an Islamo-fascist or neo-Hitlerite force, and an anti-colonial group. The organization itself emerged from the Muslim Brotherhood, an international association that promotes radical Islam. On October 7, 2023, Hamas perpetrated a massacre lasting several days at multiple locations near the Gaza Strip. Its fighters fired at anything that movedmen, women, children, infants, and pets. Furthermore, the militants abducted more than two hundred soldiers and civilians to use as leverage. The carnival-like atmosphere accompanying the slaughter was reminiscent of the Nazi death squads of World War II. In response, Israel launched Operation "Iron Swords" against Hamas in the Gaza Strip; this war has been ongoing for over a year, has destroyed numerous cities and homes in Gaza, and has cost many residents their lives. Silinsky, an experienced military intelligence analyst, explains the strategies and tactics employed by both Hamas and the Israeli armed forces during this war. Yet the battlefield extended far beyond the streets of Gaza. It wasand remainsa battle of ideas fought for international public opinion. Silinsky examines the information campaigns through which both sides vied for global sympathy. International organizations have taken sides in this conflict; Silinsky sheds light on the global diplomatic maneuvers involved. He scrutinizes United Nations institutions, particularly the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the International Court of Justice. In addition, Silinsky examines pro-Israeli and anti-Israeli non-governmental organizations and the heated activism that erupted at universities and on the streets of Western cities. At its core, this war is a tragedy. Silinsky sheds light on the human dimension and the fate of the people on both sides of the conflict.
