This is the companion volume to the author's in-depth study of the major operations of the II Canadian Corps in the Normandy campaign. The II Canadian Corps was at the epicentre of the fighting on the eastern flank, where the I SS Panzer Corps fought hard to hold the important stronghold of Caen. The Canadians faced the best units of the Waffen-SS, including the 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend. The book covers the last two major joint operations by the British and Canadians, including Totalize and Tractable, as well as the Battle of the Falaise Pocket. The book examines the actions of both the corps commander (Simonds) and the army commander (Montgomery) and relates them to American operations.
