In the battles to hold the Eastern Front, the Panther tank was perhaps the most important weapon in the Wehrmachts arsenal. Desperately switched from one crisispoint to the next, the Panther battalions of the Heer, Waffen-SS and the Luftwaffe were able to blunt the Red Armys spearheads time and again and in 1944 the Panthers body was used to create the best known tank destroyer of the war, The Jagdpanther. In this book, the 11th in ADHs Firefly Collection and the second in a series, Dennis Oliver and Stephen Andrew examine these deservedly famous tanks and their crews. Volume 2 will complete the stories of the Panzer regiments and look at the Jagdpanther battalions with some lesser known users of this potent tank-killer.
Included are short formation histories of the German "Panther" and "Jagdpanther" units on the Eastern Front as well as 13 pages with colour profiles of "Panthers" and "Jagdpanthers" in different paint schemes, contemporary b/w photos of the use of the vehicles on the Eastern Front, detailed war breakdowns, tables on troop organisation and some maps on the operations of the "Panther" and "Jagdpanther" units.
