The chronicle of a German fighter squadron (KG), consisting of documents and reports from a number of former members of KG 53 who survived the war. During the war, KG 53 was deployed in the theatres of Poland, France, England and Russia. The designation "Legion Condor" was awarded to the squadron on 12 June 1939 in Berlin. To avoid any misunderstandings from the outset: KG 53 was not the "Legion Condor" deployed in the Spanish Civil War. This traditional designation was given to an anti-aircraft artillery regiment and a Luftwaffe communications regiment at the same time. The author has succeeded in meticulously documenting the historical development of the unit and bringing it to life with gripping individual stories and historically valuable images.
