630 Squadron R.A.F. Bomber Command was created to bring war to Germany in W.W.II. It was part of a machinery built to defend, to retaliate and to destroy an enemy from the skies at night. This particular squadron was created in November 1943 and disbanded in July 1945. During its short existence, men from all over the Commonwealth and from a not yet American nation, heard the call of Britain struggling under the Nazi threat. They joined the Royal Air Force eager to play their part against oppression and tyranny, knowing that each day they flew could be their last. In the darkest nights, exposed to freezing temperatures and under the permanent threat of an invisible foe, night after night they brought their devastating load of bombs to the heartland of the Third Reich, in the knowledge that they had done their duty for God, King and Country. This is their story.
