Comet 4C The Comet 4C was essentially a Comet 4B with the wings of the Comet 4. Like the latter, the Comet 4C again had wing tip tanks to increase range. Like the short-range variant Comet 4B, the Comet 4C was powered by four Rolls-Royce Avon 525B turbojets. A total of 23 aircraft of this type were built, the first of which took off on its maiden flight on 31 October 1959.
