Kicking Bear, known as Mato Wanaxtaka or Mato Wanartaka (* 18 March 1846 somewhere in the plains of Nebraska; 28 May 1904 in Manderson-White Horse Creek, Oglala Lakota County, Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota) was a chief and medicine man of the Oglala (Minneconjou) Lakota Sioux who played a historical role in the lives of his people.
