Arriago was a Mexican bandito (1858-1885) who liked to rob the rich and occasionally share a small portion of his newly-acquired wealth with a few of the peasants. His legend also included his love of fine and colourful clothes and a reputation as a formidable gunfighter. He was seen by some as a kind of bandito 'Robin Hood' figure.
