Towards the end of the Second World War, in February 1945, at the age of 18, Princess Elizabeth joined the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service as a Second Subaltern. She trained as a driver/mechanic and, five months later, was promoted to "Junior Commander". Wartime photos show the young princess working on a range of different British Army vehicles including two that K&C have previously released - the Austin K2 Military Ambulance and the ubiquitous Austin Utility better known as the "Tilly". This new K&C Collectors Club figure shows HRH Princess Elizabeth wearing typical ATS officers service dress and "saluting to the front".
