No one could deny the bravery of the ordinary Japanese soldier in WW2. Instilled with the spirit of Bushido and willing to die for his emperor his Allied opponents could take no chances when encountering this fierce and often fanatical foe... Few Japanese soldiers even considered surrendering even when faced with imminent death or defeat... Better to die for the emperor than live as a coward!
