The Tornado, a multi-role fighter equipped with swing wings, is the result of a joint development project between Great Britain, Germany and Italy. Although the aircraft was used in various ways during its service life (ground combat, electronic warfare, interceptor), it always fulfilled its main role as a supersonic fighter-bomber for low-level flight, capable of carrying a large and powerful weapons load. Thanks to its two powerful engines with afterburner, the Tornado can reach a top speed of Mach 2.2. The Tornado's baptism of fire took place in 1991 during the Gulf War. The air attack, in which the Italian IDS Tornados also took part, began on 17 January and the mission was to take out military targets and infrastructure.
