The siege of Alesia was the dramatic climax of the war between the Gauls and the Romans. In the 1st century BC, Brennus proclaimed his famous "Vae Victis", triggering the beginning of centuries of enmity between the Romans and the Gauls. Years of mistrust between the two peoples led to the famous Battle of Alesia in 52 BC.
The Gauls, who were involved in Julius Caesar's political strategy, had to bow to the Roman organisation.
