After dominating the World Rally Championships for many years and showing that they were fully up to the challenge at the major rallies, Peugeot Sport took on a new challenge and announced its participation in the World Sports Car Championship in November 1988. With the 905, the company now joined other car manufacturers in facing the rigours of the race track.
