Joaquin Chacopino Fabré (1926-2014) has inspired millions of readers in Germany since the 1960s with his gripping covers for novels, comics and books. As a collector and profound connoisseur of the artist, author Konstantin Schadow draws a comprehensive portrait in direct collaboration with the Chacopino family and provides an overview of his extensive international oeuvre. This is the first monograph on Chacopino that pays a long overdue tribute to the artist and thus gives him an identity.
The book is published by Heider Verlag, which has previously given artists such as Klaus Dill, Renato Casaro, Ertugrul Edirne, Hansrudi Wäscher and Firuz Askin a face in Germany. Chacopino's life is portrayed on 240 large-format pages, enriched with exclusive photos. In generous original artwork chapters, which focus on Western illustrations, the most beautiful images for Lasso, Buffalo Bill, Silver Arrow and Black Wolf are presented in outstanding print quality. Among them are some previously unpublished works. Numerous cover illustrations for novel booklets follow. Later works for Kung-Fu, Marco Polo, Weltbestseller, Conny as well as previously unpublished works for an exhibition and unpublished pictures from the private collection of the Chacopino family, which show the artist from a completely different and very private side, round off the show of works.
