Drawings provided in both colour side and plan view with 1:72 scale plans, kit decal and accessory lists, squadrons, units and individual aircraft serials in codes, etc. The Folland "Gnat" was an attempt to produce a light weight fighter. Designed by W.E.W. Petter who produced the Lysander, Whirlwind and Welkin for Westland's all of which were in one way or another unconventional and advanced aircraft for their time.
The Folland "Gnat" was an attempt to produce a light fighter aircraft. Conceived by W. E. W. Petter, who had also developed the "Lysander", "Whirlwind" and "Welkin" aeroplanes for the aircraft company "Westland", each of these machines is unconventional and progressive in one way or another, the Folland "Gnat" has a number of unusual details in its design.
