Lieutenant General Andrei Andreyevich Vlasov was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, the first and at the time the highest military order of the Soviet Union. This was in recognition of his leadership of the 37th Army during Hitler's invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941 and for his efforts in the defense of Moscow. However, he was taken prisoner during the siege of Leningrad in 1942. While in captivity, Vlasov defected to the Germans.
He founded the Russian Liberation Army (RONA), a movement designed to help the Germans defeat Stalin's Bolshevism. Stalin's secret services undoubtedly sought to disrupt and infiltrate the RONA. In this book, author Franz Taut reveals a plausible but fictitious attempt to infiltrate Vlasov's organization and report to Moscow about those "traitors" who sought the collapse of the communist regime.
