The history of the German Air Forces (Luftwaffe, Army Air Forces and Naval Air Forces) has hardly been treated in a comprehensive manner since its formation in 1956. This series aims to present the history and development of these separate branches of the German armed forces. This booklet focuses on the F-104 "Starfighter" and the events of 19 June 1962, the "Black Day of the Luftwaffe". In addition, the use of the Huntington Percival Pembroke by air force, naval aviators and army aviators is highlighted. Further topics are the chronicles of the LSK/NVA Fighter Squadron 3 "Vladimir Komarov" and the Naval Aviation Squadron 2 (MFG 2).
