When Walter Beech, Clyde Cessna and Lloyd Stearman founded the Travel Air Manufacturing Company after the First World War to build aircraft together, none of the three pioneers had any idea that each of them would revolutionise aviation in their own way. However, their paths soon diverge again - their views are too different. After a few detours, Beech and his future wife Olive Ann founded the Beech Aircraft Company (later known as Beechcraft for short), laying the foundations for an astonishing career. He designs and builds aeroplanes for businessmen who can fly them themselves - the age of general aviation begins.
Soon the military also became interested in his products and the Second World War turned the Beech shipyard into a corporation whose innovative aeroplanes are still in civilian and military use today.
