Virgil Walter Earp (* July 18, 1843 in Hartford, Kentucky; October 19, 1905 in Goldfield, Nevada) was a deputy United States Marshal. Grave of Virgil Earp in the River View Cemetery, Portland. He became known for his involvement in the gunfight at the O.K. Corral together with Doc Holliday and his two brothers Wyatt and Morgan Earp, in which he was seriously injured. Like his brother Wyatt, he is now an American legend. In 1905, Virgil Earp was hired as sheriff of the town of Goldfield, Nevada. However, he died of pneumonia just a few months later. His brother Wyatt Earp, who was also in Goldfield, then left the town.
