The Continental Army was created after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War by a resolution of the Continental Congress at June 14th, 1775 that answered the desperate need of raising a full military force to fight against the British Army.
At the beginning, the Thirteen Colonies didnt have an army and had to rely on Militias. Also, the first continental army suffered hard the lack of supplies and trained officers. In spite of this, they grew in confidence and efficiency as the conflict developed and became quite an effective army in the best tradition of the European standards.
Our figure depicts a generic Continental Infantryman that can be painted in a big array of combinations depending on the regiment of choice. For this version, we have chosen the 1st New York regiment that sports the combination of blue uniform with buff facings that was assigned to these troops. Special interest has the deerskin trousers, especially suited for the harshness of warfare in the North American wilderness.
This classic from miniatures history was released in the late 90s by Elite Miniaturas and the original boxart was painted by José Hernández.
