The French Army of the Second Empire followed the Napoleonic tradition of raising colorful regiments of native troops, with the creation of several regiments of zouaves and tiralleurs.
The Tirailleurs Algerian or "Turcos" were first raised in 1841 and served in all the conflicts in which France was involved until the decolonization process in the second half of the XX century.
This classic figure from Elite Miniatures is dressed in the flamboyant uniform of these troops, which inspired a true trend in many contemporary armies.
