The American 404th Fighter Group was formed in January 1943 and transferred to England in March/April 1944. From there the men and machines of the 4th Fighter Group took off for their operations in the skies over Normandy. Illustrated with a large number of contemporary photographs, this volume documents the history of 4th Fighter Group and its role during the Battle of Normandy in the summer of 1944.
