14 October 1066, William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy, defeats King Harold of England. This victory brings the Norman duke the crown of England. The battle is reconstructed from the landing at Pevensey to the decisive battle. The weapons, equipment, clothing, logistics and living conditions of both sides are described in detail. The authors use numerous photographs of the battle re-enacted by re-enactors on 14 October 2000, contemporary images and textual sources for illustration.
