The northern French town of Bayeux was one of the first towns in France to be liberated from German occupation by Allied forces in the summer of 1944. Exiled French and British troops were the first Allied soldiers to enter the town in July 1944. This illustrated book by the well-known French author Georges Bernage documents the Allied invasion of Bayeux, the reactions of the population to the liberation from German rule and the first days after the Allied invasion.
