This book highlights the location of the fortified town of Belfort, which gives this area a privileged link between the Rhine and the Rhone Valley. A major fresco from 1226 to the present day, i.e. more than seven centuries of the fortifications begun by Vauban, which evolved in response to advances in artillery and weapons.
