The history of AGO-Flugzeugwerke began in 1910 with the founding of Aeroplanbau Gustav Otto. In February 1950, the history of AGO-Flugzeugwerke G.m.b.H. in Oschersleben/Bode ended with the dissolution of the processing office, which at this point only had two employees. The pioneering period of AGO, beginning with Otto's aeroplane construction and his academy, has been dealt with extensively and in detail in the secondary literature. The research on the period from 1909 to 1926 could therefore be almost completely covered by studying the secondary literature. The sources in the secondary literature on the second era of the AGO from 1934 to 1950 have so far been far less detailed... For this publication, I obtained the information on the period from 1934 onwards mainly from primary sources. These sources are original documents from the AGO aircraft factories, documents from the Federal Archives, documents from the Bank der Deutschen Luftfahrt and its consortium partners, the personal estate of the chief designer of the AGO, Paul Klages, documents from contemporary personalities, surviving flight logbooks of AGO pilots and, last but not least, interviews and conversations with contemporary witnesses".
