The Long Range Desert Group (German: Langstrecken-Wüstengruppe) was a special unit of the British Army during the Second World War, which was in action from 1940 to 1943. It was founded by Major Ralph Alger Bagnold after the crossing of the Libyan-Egyptian border by Italian troops in June 1940.
