Our worldview is the sum of the conceptions we form of the world. It encompasses our understanding of the Earth and the universe, as well as of nature, society, and the role of humanity within them. A worldview thus serves as a "lens" through which reality is perceived, interpreted, and explained. It varies depending on region, era, and cultural conceptions. Drawing upon historical sources from Klosterneuburg Abbey, this book opens up perspectives on the world that - from a contemporary standpointappear strikingly unfamiliar: maps, scientific treatises, travel diaries, and accounts of pilgrimages and expeditions reveal how those within the monastery walls followed events with keen interest, thereby constructing their own image of the worldalways in dialogue with the cultural and scientific developments of their time.
