The coastal minesweeper Koblenz, whose deployment and life on board from late summer 1968 to summer 1970 are the subject of this book, was at that time a unit of the 6th Minesweeper Squadron of the German Federal Navy and was thus involved for many years in clearing mines from World War II in the North Sea. Converted into a minehunter in the late 1970s, the Koblenz took part in Operation South Flank in the early 1990s, during which Iraqi mines from the Second Gulf War were cleared. After almost 40 years of service in the German Navy, the boat was sold to Lithuania, where it was still in service in 2013 under the name Suduvis in the former Memel, now Klaipeda. This book is dedicated to all minesweepers who served during the Cold War in a navy that no longer exists today.
