The wolf (Canis lupus) also known as the gray/grey wolf, timber wolf,or tundra wolf, is a canine native to the wilderness and remote areas of Eurasia and North America. It is the largest extant member of its family, with males averaging 43-45 kg (95-99 lb) and females 36-38.5 kg (79-85 lb). The average pack consists of a family of five to 9 animals.
The wolf (Canis lupus) is the largest recent carnivore of the dog family (Canidae). Wolves generally live in family groups, colloquially known as packs. Their main prey in most regions are medium-sized to large ungulates. The species has been distributed in several subspecies throughout Europe, large parts of Asia, including the Arabian Peninsula and Japan, and North America since the late Pleistocene.
