The Sal willow (Salix caprea), obsolete spelling Saal willow, preferred by botanists with the hyphen spelling as Sal willow, is a species of plant in the genus Salix within the willow family (Salicaceae). It is also known by the names hanging willow, palm willow and catkin willow. It is also known regionally as palm catkin.
