In gala skirt, c. 1750, height 9 cm. The cuirassiers got their name from the iron breastplate weighing up to 12 kg - the cuirass. Shown here in a gala skirt. Their armament consisted of a carbine, two pistols on the saddle and a sabre. The cuirassiers were the heaviest and most distinguished type of mounted troops and represented the actual battle cavalry in the Prussian army.
