Landsknecht-Company, marching

Europe, early 16th century.
When road conditions permitted, they marched side by side in rows of four to the playing of drums and pipes and marching songs. This is also where the roots of the early German soldier song lie, whose crude and naïve lyrics reflected the experiences and wishes of the Landsknechte.
Our series shows an ensign on the march, consisting of Landsknechte with spears, hooked rifles and Bidenhändern, pipers and drummers, flag, ensign captain and lieutenant on the march.
