When the enemy was weakened by the skirmish or the situation was otherwise considered favourable, they attacked. Either one felt strong enough to attack the enemy's pile of force, or one sought the decision at a weaker point in the enemy's order of battle. When attacking, one tried to "throw the enemy over the pile, i.e. to blow up his pile.
Our series shows Landsknechte with spears, hooked rifles and Bidenhändern, piper and drummer (playing), flag, Fähnleinhauptmann and lieutenant in attacking positions. An eight-limbed formation that cannot be depicted smaller.
