Crossbow, bow, pole arms, fire tube, Europe 14th/15th century Dress, protective equipment and armament were of colourful variety in each bunch. People wore old and new helmets, armour and weapons, including pieces of loot. It was difficult to distinguish friend from foe when the order disintegrated. Knights carried coats of arms for this purpose, war servants occasionally coloured cloth badges. In case of doubt, one distinguished oneself by a loudly emitted war cry (e.g. the name of the warlord or the home town).
