Germanic attack - Teutoburg Forest

In the Varus Battle (also called Battle in the Teutoburg Forest or Hermann Battle) in the second half of the year 9 AD, three Roman legions, including auxiliary troops and troops under Publius Quinctilius Varus in Germania, suffered a crushing defeat against a Germanic army led by Arminius ("Hermann"), a prince of the Cheruscans.
The constant efforts of the Romans to turn the area on the right bank of the Rhine (up to the Elbe) into a province of the Roman Empire came to an abrupt end with this battle.
An eighth of the entire Roman army was destroyed in this battle.
Our series shows an attack by Germanic warriors led by Arminius on the train of the Roman legion. The attacked legionnaires of the scene try to get a complete surprise.
