The king had this carriage made in 1764 according to his ideas for the New Palace in Sanssouci Park. Not only visitors but also the monarch himself used this carriage (garden carriage = self-carriage carriage). Its form and equipment correspond to the magnificent Phaetons. A restored example has been on display in Sanssouci since 1996.
