Ben Hur, a novel by Lew Wallace published in 1880. In it, the novel depicts the life of the fictional Jewish prince Judah Ben Hur, who is sentenced to the galley at the beginning of the 1st century AD for an alleged assassination attempt on the Roman governor of Judea.
