Holding, shooting in a bow, Europe 14th/15th century. Of all the archery weapons of the Middle Ages, the bow in the hands of a practised archer had the fastest firing sequence. The opponent could thus be showered with a veritable hail of arrows - even in the depth of his line-up - which came from above at an angle rather than straight on account of the bow shot.
