Golgotha (also: Golgotha or Golgotha) is the name used today for a hitherto unknown hill outside Jerusalem in antiquity. According to the New Testament Gospels, Jesus of Nazareth was crucified there. Crucifixion was the cruelest method of execution in the Roman Empire, mostly used against rebels, runaway slaves and inhabitants without Roman citizenship.
