Centurio or centurion (äHundertschaftsführerô, from Latin centum=hundred), also called hecatontarch in ancient Greek sources, was the designation for an officer of the Römian Empire who usually commanded a centuria (äHundertschaftô) of the Römian legion or a comparable unit of the auxiliary troops (auxiliaries).
