Volume 136 of the Guerreros y Batallas series describes one of the important battles in the Spanish War of Independence against the French occupation during the Napoleonic Wars. The Battle of Sagunt was part of the Napoleonic Wars in Spain and comprised the siege of the old fortress of Saguntum, which began on 23 September 1811, the failed attempt by the Spanish to relieve it at the Battle of Murviedro (25 October 1811) and the capture of the fortress of Sagunt on 26 October by the French.
The victory enabled the advance on Valencia, which fell into French hands on 9 January 1812. This volume describes in detail the background, course and consequences of the battle at Sagunt.
