The battle was a severe defeat for the Spanish troops, who proved to be completely inferior to the battle-experienced and disciplined French troops. The author describes the background to the catastrophe at Uclés, the composition of the two armies, the course of the battle and the consequences for the further course of the war on the Iberian Peninsula.
