With the Battle of Mühlberg on 24 April 1547, the decisive confrontation of the Schmalkaldic War is the focus of this work. In it, Emperor Charles V defeated the leader of the Protestant party in the empire, Elector John Frederick of Saxony, and thus decided the bloody conflict in his favour. The volume traces the background and course of the war as a whole, as well as the battle itself, in detail and elaborates on its consequences. The armies involved in the battle with their composition, clothing, equipment and armament are also subjected to close scrutiny.
