This 7th edition covers global fleets of military transport and patrol aircraftfixed-wing typesranging from smaller models such as the Cessna 208 Caravan and PC-6 Porter to large aircraft like the Boeing 747 and Antonov An-124. It includes all known Western, Soviet, and Chinese aircraft types, as well as those aircraft confirmed to be currently on order. In addition to aircraft operated by air forces, armies, and navies, the volume also lists those utilized by coast guards, customs and border protection agencies, police forces, and civilian contractors operating under military contracts. Furthermore, aircraft used by governments as VIP transports are listed. As a supplement, the edition features a list of aircraft that have been removed from the 2024 edition due to accidents, retirement from service, or preservation for posterity; this is accompanied by notes on military type designations and cross-references to US military tail codes.
