This is an illustrated book about the standard and regular equipment of German soldiers who formed a unit during the Second World War. Numerous historical photos explain the role of each individual man in the group (which theoretically could not have more than nine members). Every single weapon and piece of equipment carried by these soldiers is described in detail using detailed photos of items and equipment from private collections and museums. The publication is a faithful reflection of the lives of these soldiers based on a collection of personal items, high-quality photographs and curiosities. The group was the smallest combat unit in the German infantry. It consisted of a variable number of men led by a corporal or a non-commissioned officer, the so-called group leader. This unit was organised around a light machine gun, which could be an MG 34 or an MG 42.
