In this 19th issue of "Aces High" we delve into the world of aggressor aircraft, specifically those with camouflage where blue colors predominate. During the Vietnam War, the United States created air-to-air combat schools, both in the USAF and the USN. The latter is very famous thanks to the movies and the film "Top Gun", where American fighter planes, many of them already retired from the front line, imitated in terms of tactics, procedures and combat techniques the fearsome Soviet fighters in service in all Warsaw Pact countries, countries close to the Soviet orbit and, of course, in the U.S.S.R. itself. In the last decades, when facing an aggressor, gray or various shades of gray predominated in their final finish, making them unattractive or boring. However, the possibility of being able to execute a series of beautiful and sometimes complicated camouflages has been a breath of fresh air for modelers. Content: F/A-18C "Hornet", F-5E "Tiger", F-14A "Tomcat" und F-15DJ "Eagle".
The latter became very famous through the feature film "Top Gun", in which American fighter planes, many of which had already retired from active service, imitated the Soviet fighter planes in terms of tactics, operational procedures and combat techniques, which were in service in all Warsaw Pact countries as well as in many other states. In recent decades, however, grey paint schemes have dominated the colour scheme of the Aggressor fighters, which may not appeal to some modellers. This "Aces High" issue presents a range of models in spectacular and sometimes complicated liveries worn by Aggressor aircraft in different periods. The models presented here: F/A-18C "Hornet", F-5E "Tiger", F-14A "Tomcat" and F-15DJ "Eagle".
