This is the first of two booklets on painting military vehicles. You, the reader, will learn here the basic methods to paint and age military vehicles. With the models presented, you will be taught tricks of the trade to make your own models a perfect scale replica of reality. The Topics: - Painting and ageing techniques are illustrated using full-colour step-by-step illustrations - Realistic depiction of rust, mud, dust and battle scars. - Production of complex camouflage schemes. - Planning and building dioramas and landscapes.
Only through knowledge of the basic techniques can one's own ideas and conceptions be meaningfully implemented in a model. The world of model building is always in motion, both in terms of the materials used and the techniques and methods employed. It is a constant development in which we always try to increase the realism of our work. The search for the "final technique" takes place on many different levels. Exchanging ideas with other model makers at exhibitions and competitions is a very easy and inexpensive way to do this. The only thing is that the time on site is usually too short and when one arrives home, one no longer knows all the details of the previous discussions. The authors would therefore like to show and demonstrate to the reader some of the common techniques (which therefore do not necessarily have to be new) for colouring and ageing military vehicles. This starts with an article explaining the basics of painting and ageing. This should give even the beginner the opportunity to follow the more advanced techniques that follow. Often it is only small tricks and the right materials that make a certain method successful. The other articles in this first of two booklets show some of these techniques, which sometimes lead to amazing effects and can give a model that certain something.
