- The World Wars
It took the Allies eleven months from the Normandy landings on 6 June 1944 to the end of the Second World War. A full seven months of this time were spent fighting in the Meuse and Rhineland between Liège and St. Vith, Maastricht, Aachen and Cologne: from September 1944 to March 1945. This shows the importance of the fierce battle that was fought on the "battlefield between the Meuse and the Rhine". With photos, maps and authentic reports, the work describes the deployment on the German border, the battles around Aachen and the Hürtgen Forest, the Ardennes offensive, the crossing of the Rur at Düren and Jülich and finally the US advance through the Erftebene to the east bank of the Rhine near Cologne.
