A comprehensive account of the deployment of German Freikorps units in the years between 1918 and 1923. The first part is devoted to the use of the Freikorps in combating the communist revolution in Russia and in the various border protection operations. The second part then deals with the intervention of the various Freikorps in the internal disputes and struggles of the German Reich. For example, it deals with the bloody battles in Berlin in January and March 1919 or the Kapp-Lüttwitz putsch of 1920. The last part deals with Albert Schlageter, who was shot in 1923 in the course of the "Ruhrkampf", and the secret "Black Reichswehr".
